Poor Support

Starting in Dec 2018, the Mac application (version 1.1.1) stopped working on my Mac Mini running Mohave 1.14.1. Instead of showing alerts a text message was displayed "The link has expired, please retry afterward refreshing." I reported this to YI support on 5 December 2018. They reported that this was a known issue and was currently beingness worked on. After numerous communications and problems being opened and automatically closed, a new version of the Mac application (version 1.1.two) has finally been released which appears to resolve this trouble.
I am disappointed that the resolution to this Mac-only issue took over 6 months to be stock-still while in that location has been several updates to the mobile version of the application. This type of customer support does not inspire customer loyalty and makes me hesitate on any further purchases from Yi Technologies.

Closed functionality - designed around needs of a mobile app

A lot of the features to this application seem closed off.

For example If I open up upwards a stream to view a video feed, I'd like information technology to stay open up, instead I'm fighting with the timeout all twenty-four hour period long.

Much of the design seems to exist focused on providing you quick access to the featues, which is excellent… good job… but What I NEED is to meet the video. I can't resize the window to say… just meet the video, (on a desktop calculator) make it stay on acme of other applications, and I tin't make it full screen without having to view the onscreen controls. It'southward definitely a work in progress towards a proficient solution, just since I can't access the video stream any other style than through this application, I'm going to have to enquire for more than, before I rate it higher.

Yi Abode 1080i Camera

This could easily exist a v start review merely for a one effect which gets the yi photographic camera experience off on the wrong pes.

The Yi merely works with a 2G network, that in and of itself is not reeally a big trouble.. The problem arises when y'all go through the setup process.

The Yi immediately selects the nearest 5G network, and at that place is no fashion to simply "select" another network in your home or function which is operating at 2G.

I have now done this at two locations, in each instance I must:
1. login to the router
2. Diable the SSID of the 5G network
three. Go back to the setup and now select the 2G side

Not sure why the Yi camera is so intent on grabbing a 5G network that it tin non utilize or connect to. Not sure why Yi does not allow the user to choose a network which appears in the WiFi list the ame way Honeywell and Nest and other companies do.

The camera is very dainty, the quality is excellent and with the addition of a micro SD menu the storage is perfect. The iPhone app is likewise top shelf.

Yi please prepare the setup issue! Either have the camera connect to 5G, or allow the user cull a network, or simply elininate the cameras ability to "see" a 5G network.
